Things that amazed me….

-Toyobo admitted that the bulletproof vests it had sold to 150,000 Americans, many of them policemen, are not bulletproof.

-Toto Ltd. put on the market a toilet that checks your weight, percentage of body fat, sugar levels, and blood pressure each time it is used.
The toilet, which costs up to ¥562,000 more than a toilet which just sits there, can keep computerized records for a family of four.

-Matsushita showed off its new ceiling light, designed for the bedrooms of people who have trouble getting out of bed in the morning. It brightens gradually for 30 minutes, then, two minutes before wake-up time, birds begin to chirp.

-Sanyo Electric’s new rice cooker has 125 different settings to allow you to get the exact degree of stickiness, chewiness, fungibility, etc.

And this is really make me laugh (!) :

-The North Korean government, incidentally, specifies that men’s hair shall be no longer than 5cm, except to comb over a bald spot, in which case it can be 7cm .

Bite my nails for:
-J-Lo’s trip to Japan for three days (only!) end of last year costed her 70 Million yen (Rp.5,95M) in accommodation and stuff.
-The fancy Halekulani Resort in Hawaii just opened their exclusively designed Vera Wang Suite room for $4000/night(Rp38jt).
-Beackam signed 6 product advertisement contracts last year with Japanese companies (Meiji for sure, I saw the commercial) that pay him 500Million yen (Rp.42,5M)EACH!
-Paris Hilton 24 Carat engagement ring that cost Latsis $3M found to be too heavy for her finger so she will get ‘a more manageable diamond-less platinum Cartier band’ for daily use.

BUT:
-700 million people in Asia Pacific countries live bellow international poverty line = earning less than $1 per day.
-Half of Somalian population encounter starvation.
-Supriono can’t afford medical help (and later burial) of her dying 3 y.o. baby girl.
-Parents of Nana, a Nigerian 17 month old baby who weight 4,3kg only, have to walk 3 days to reach Maradi to get medical help for their severe malnutrition baby.

Then I feel blessed with what I have.

When count blessing, don’t look up, look down.
