Every posting is one piece among thousands pieces in this complicated yet interesting puzzle game called: LIFE
This morning, from my car window, on the way to work, I saw beauties.
Beauty of mature autumn morning. Yellow, orange, red and brown.
Beauty of sunshine, just awoke after the rainy day before.
Beauty of children walking to the school, with their heavy randosoru on their back.
Spirit of gambarimasu.
Beauty of group of senior citizens gathering in the park for morning exercise and walk.
Beauty of group of salary man in their suit and tie, voluntarily cleaning the street before 9AM just for community awareness.
Beauty of another group of people, standing on the side of the street, holding a bold board written: “Fasten your seat-belt all the time, don’t break the rule like what I did”.
It was the punishment from the traffic police when they were caught for no seat-belt violation.
Beauty of law enforcement, you can never bribe the police on the street.
Indonesia Trip
- Summary: Eight days, three countries, four cities, internet free, hundred of family members and old/new friends, thirty something type of old/new favorite dishes, 49 kg of luggage later, I arrived back home.
- Happiness: Meet and talk with family, friends old and new. Until 2 AM every night.
- Fresh: Lemon grass ice tea in Cafe Asix, Bandung. Go try it! Abundance rain creates greener surrounding of parents’ home at the leg of Mt.Merapi. Various tropical fruits at traditional market.
- Tensed: Traffic in Yogyakarta where not hundreds but thousands motorcycle on the street, flock in between cars, move with their own rule.
- Surprised: almost everybody in Indonesia, not only owning a hand-phone, but two hand-phones (including tukang ojek-cartered motorcycle driver). While one of my boss at the office here just got his first couple month ago.
- Not so surprised: though everybody complain about how tough life nowadays, everybody, up and down: survive. Indonesian survival ability is really a big WOW !
- Kudos: for those low and middle class people, who survival stories is fulfilling and remind me on how blessed my life is. More story about it later.
- What recession? While SQ business class seats full with many Indonesian big hair ladies with that many Hermes shopping bags their hand can’t even handle. Don’t want to even think where the money come from.
- Another fresh: A sharing session with students at my old univ campus where the young and curious asked me questions around the spirit, motivation, hope and dream high.
- Splurge: Forget the calorie count. Forget all the crazy work demand. Forget to do your own laundry, or even pick your own luggage.
- Steal: 1 yen = 109 rupiah ( while the usual rate 1 yen = 80 rupiah)
Back Home
- Chill: So long short sleeves. Within a week, temperature dropped by ten degree. Autumn at full swing. Colorful trees everywhere. But dear Sun, where are you?
- Happiness: My sweet and wonderful children, never thank enough for them in my life. My heart almost explode with the joy they bring.
- Superman: House spotless cleaned, kids pampered perfectly, nothing missed from the to do list. I wonder if husband still need me. He runs the home while work full time, perfectly without me.
- Work: Back to real life. Tons of pending, where to start?
- Forgot: To file my Japan tax paper and the due date is tomorrow! Missed to register my self for Indonesian election, dateline passed. Is that still ok to create NPWP now, or too late?
- Ancient: Raisa had a blast with congklak/dakon game I brought her in Yogya. She enjoyed it more than tamagochi.
- Made in China: as its reputation. The remote control helicopter bought in Jakarta, though the seller’s demo shown it works just fine, at home it never flies. Not even single chance for crash-landing.
- Farewell: Uncle Wahid resumed his duty at the embassy and back for good to Pakistan. Yusuf & Saima decided to enhance their financial career in Spore after Lehman closed down. Fithri insyaallah will be Ph.D this month and back for good to Indonesia.
- Down again: Gasoline price is back under 120 yen per litter tap. Yoyo.
Somewhere Else
- Nothing is impossible: Martin Luther King must be so damn proud that his dream comes true.
